ABOUT THE SCHOOL

Our History

On the 22nd of October 1921 the School Council of Transvaal gave their permission to start a new Afrikaans school.  The school was established in the recreational hall of Witdeep.  The first headmaster was C.A. du Plessis Marais and the school's name was proclaimed as Driefontein Afrikaans school.

On the 23rd of February 1928 the school's name was changed to Witfield Primary.  From there Witfield Primary developed and was handed on from one force to another.  The learners sang Witfield Primary's own school anthem for the first time on 18 February 1974.

Witfield Primary is and will always be an anchor in the community from the time it was established in the 1970's.  Witfield Primary is well known for its revues which is one of their most important events since 1923.  All the revues since then are of the highest quality.

Since the time Witfield Primary was established the school is well known for its excellent performance in culture as well as sports activities.  The high academic standard that Witfield Primary is known for, is still not negotiable since 1921.  Like our motto says: Here we are diligent.
