BIRTHDAYS ARE SPECIAL
Your child may wear private wear when it is his/her birthday. When the birthday is not on a school day, (i.e. week end or holiday) then he/she may wear private wear on the nearest to the birthday.
VERY IMPORTANT
All school clothes and other belongings must be marked clearly, Including: Shoes, socks, panties, dresses, blazers, jerseys, ties, Drimacs, suitcases, food tins, pencils, sharpeners, glue etc.
PAYING SCHOOLFEES / AFTERCARE
How?: Per EFT or the specific amount in cash at the office between 07:30 – 13:30.
Where?: Cash payments at the office only, not with the teacher.
How much?: School fees are updated every year. You will receive monthly statements
Registration/Book fee: A once-off amount per annum for learners.
Your account number (family code) or eldest CHILD’s in L/S Witfield’s name and surname must accompany all payments and EFT’s. Please fax (086 571 9460) or send your proof of payment to the offfice.
SCHOOL FEES ARE COMPULSORY
At the beginning of the new school year, you will receive a statement to specify the amount due. Should you not receive a statement please know that all fees are still payable by you. The money must be paid before the 7th of every month. Cash payable at the office ONLY or pay with EFTs. January’s fees are payable when school opens.
ADDITIONAL PAYMENTS
It is important to remember anything payable with the teacher, must be sent in cash e.g. book covers, excursions, etc.
Put any cash in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and what it is for, hand it to the teacher, please give the requested amount. Teachers don’t have change in class.
LUNCH BOXES
Your child must please bring healthy food to school e.g. sandwich, fruit and juice – not too much sweets, please! A child can’t concentrate if he/she is hungry or ate too many sweets.
MONEY FOR TUCK SHOP
Place all money sent to school in a safe place.
ROAD SAFETY
The road patrol service functions in the mornings and afternoons.
Gr.00 to Gr.2 parents must fetch their children at the class just after 13:00, otherwise children must stay in the waiting class until 13:40 and be fetched from there.
PARENTS EVENINGS
You will be notified in advance about parent evenings. It is important for every parent to attend the parents evenings. Some parent evenings are not for all parents, but only on invitation.
Term 1: Assessments must be fetched by parents – children don’t receive it.
Term 2 & 3: Children receive Assessments – parents who receive an invitation, must fetch the assessments during parents evenings. The teacher needs to see you.
CIRCULARS
Every family receives the Witfield Gazette on Thursdays. Please read it carefully to be updated of all happenings at school. Please sign confirmation slip for Witfield Gazette in the back of your child’s diary. (Gr. 1 – 3).
All slips of letters, must be sent back to school on the next schoolday.

PLEASE REMEMBER COPIES OF YOUR CHILD’S IDENTITY DOCUMENT, LAST REPORT CARD, TRANSFER CARD AND CLINIC CARD MUST ACCOMPANY THE APPLICATION FORM.
SCHOOL LEAVING
Parents must please apply for a transfer card in writing. All school fees must be paid
in full and all school property e.g. text books, media books, sports wear etc. must be handed in before we can issue a transfer card.
PARTIES
(If you want to send treats to school for your child’s birthday)
Find out how many children are in your child’s class from the teacher.
We prefer individual items like cupcakes – no big cakes please.
ABSENCE
Please write a letter of explanation in your child’s homework book.
Please inform the school in writing when your child will be fetched at school early. Parents must come to the OFFICE to sign the child out.
It is important that your child must be at school every day, but please keep him/her at home when the child is really ill.
Teach your child the importance of being punctual. Ensure they are on time everyday.
WAITING CLASS
The children in Gr.00 & Gr.R wait in their own teacher’s class from 13:00 to 13:40. Gr.1 – 3 learners receive a class roster which indicates at which class they have to wait until 13:40.
HOMEWORK
Homework teaches responsibility - please support your child!
Learners receive a homework roster every week. Homework is based on skills mastered in class.
Homework keeps you as a parent up to date of what is done in class.
Homework must not cause any stress at home.
Please appreciate your child’s attempts.
A grade 1-learner needs only one teacher in his/her life and it is the one at school – parents must not try to be substitute- teachers!
You will be informed by the teacher if your child needs additional help.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS ETC
It is very important that the school must be notified in writing of any change in address, telephone numbers etc.
PARENTAL VISITS TO THE PRINCIPAL AND TEACHERS
Please make an appointment to see the principal with his secretary to avoid disappointment.
Visits to personnel must be before or after school hours – not during school hours!
HAIR STYLES
Girls:
Short and neat or long and tied up.
Hair asessories are available at schoolwear suppliers.
Boys:
Short and neat, no mohawks or other styles allowed.
No hairgel.

Stationery packs are available at the tuck shop. Please contact Mrs. Smit on
082 922 7889 to order. Price is available on request. We do not supply a list of articles needed for grade R and 00 as parents chose to buy wrong or unsuitable items in the past and then the child cannot do required work in class.
Please note that suitcases are not included in the stationery packs.
All stationery packs and T-shirt orders are payable in cash and when you order with the abovementioned persons, NOT at the office.
Compulsory school T-shirts: Set of six: five plus one T-shirt for excursions. Orders can be placed with Mrs. Belinda Nel at the grade R class. Price is available on request.

AFTERCARE CENTRE
There is an after school care facility available at the school. It is open weekdays from 13:00 till 17:30. It is CLOSED on weekends and public holidays.
During school holidays the centre is open from 7:00 till 17:30.
Only children attending Laerskool Witfield are allowed to attend our after school centre.
The centre opens from the day the school opens in January till the last school day in December. Unfortunately we are not open during the December/January school holiday, but we are open for the other 3 holidays.
Fees are available from the office.
